Looking to try Breathwork for the first time? Check out all of our amazing Sound Healing retreats here. At the core, breathwork is a stress-reduction technique that brings physical relaxation and peace of mind. Hear from Leo Cosendai, all about his upcoming wellness retreat!
Hello Leo! Thank you for taking the time to join us today and agreeing to answer some of our questions, can you start by telling us a bit about yourself?
Music has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember, and acute stress has been a big part of my life growing up. Meeting my future wife is what brought the whole biscuit together - she took my to a sound baths and other experiences that help you question what is real and what isn't, and it all resonated with me. Everything else after that is just following through with how I felt about helping myself and other people.
How did you get into creating retreats/sound healing?
I went to the Sahara Desert 7 years ago and always knew I'd go back at some point. There is a part of me that feels like seeing the same thing twice is not beneficial but this must be an exception because I viscerally feel it's the "right" thing to do. I think I have something for desert landscapes - perhaps it's the extremes.. and the vastness: the possibility to get lost and be absorbed by it all.
People who are signing up for this retreat are very creative and keen to reset their inner canvas in no man's land.
I guess there is so much noise these days, it'll be nice to dive into the sound of silence in such a place of raw beauty and deep stillness.
I'm also super grateful to the camp facilitators - it's quite extraordinary to have the kind of comfort they provide in the middle of nowhere. I'm counting the days!
What retreats do you have coming up this year and next?
I was at Six Senses Ibiza earlier this year, and now we're full focused on the Sahara this November. Next year? Who knows!
Journey to the Heart retreat venue, Morocco
Do people have to have tried gong baths/ meditation before coming on your retreat?
No experience or knowledge required. Some of my clients are seasoned yogis and others are diving in with no instructions. I like that in a group, I feel it's beneficial to all parties to be part of a non-homogenous group.
What would you say to someone who has never been on a retreat but is curious to try it?
What I would say or not say depends on my understanding of who the person is and where they're at, but as a blanket statement,
I would simply say that no one can persuade or convince you but yourself, and that is good human design btw! We just have to have our finger on our own pulse to get the answers.
