What is Breathwork?
We are all born with the knowledge of how to take deep breaths that fully engage the diaphragm. However, as we get older, we tend to get out of the habit and our instinctive breathing pattern gradually shifts to shallower, faster, upper chest breathing. This kind of shallow breathing (study shows) can elevate heart rate and over time could increase your blood pressure.
We can use our breath to counteract these things alongside reducing stress, anxiety and bring calmness into our lives. It’s a major tool most of us aren’t leveraging to its fullest potential. By attending a breathwork retreat, we can all learn how to use this technique in our daily lives and benefit from its calming effects.
